Florida Rep (the new one in Fort Myers, not the defunct West Palm Beach theatre) imported some South Florida Talent to realize their production of You Can't Take It With You. Avi Hoffman and Richard Crowell both get nods in the review published in the Naples News.
Hmm. History is more convoluted than I thought.
...Hoffman makes an indelible impression as a Russian ballet instructor...
Richard Crowell's fabulously cluttered living room set comes stuffed to the gills with amazing trinkets...But those of us who have been here awhile will recognize Chris Clavelli's name.
..a handyman in a toga (Chris Clavelli, brilliantly cast) posing for a painting of "The Discus Thrower"...Back in the late eighties and early nineties he appeared in various theatres, winning the Best Actor Carbonell in the 1988-89 season for The Mystery of Irma Vep at the Florida Shakespeare Festival (which is now GableStage). I remember his strong work in Voice of the Prairie at Theatre Club of the Palm Beaches (which became the Lois Pope Theatre before it became Florida Stage ) with Nancy Barnett and Dan Leonard.
