We're a little late with the reading list this week; the weekend turned out to be boozier busier than anticipated.
But here we are in November! We're racing towards Thanksgiving and Christmas at a breakneck pace. So it's a good time to slow down and enjoy your Monday reading list...
They're NOT Moving
The heading on The Drama Queen's latest post might lead you to believe that Stage Door Theatre is moving to Miami Beach, but they're really looking at another satellite facility like they had with the 26th Street Theatre. Except that this would be the beautiful Byron Carlyle Theatre instead of a ratty converted movie theatre.
Down The Hole
MiamiArtzine.com spends a day in Wonderland. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland opens this week at The Playground Theatre.
Advance Stories on Cane
Not much in advance; they missed last week's reading list. But Palm Beach ArtsPaper and The Shiny Sheet and South Florida Theater Review all had extensive articles up about Andrew Rosendorf's CANE, commissioned by Florida Stage as part of its new Florida Cycle program. The review page will be up later today.
The Rest of the Year
South Florida Theater Review has posted a list of what's playing around South Florida through November and December. Hmm, our own listings board needs an update....thanks, Bill!
Over on the Gulf Coast
The last time Noises Off played locally, it was at Florida Rep; the one that used to be in West Palm Beach. Now it's playing at Florida Rep; the new one in Fort Myers. The Naples News tells us about it, and it includes photos of Ken Kay, the South Florida actor who is playing the lead in the show. Kay's wife, Kim Cozort, is appearing in Candida at Palm Beach DramaWorks, which is moving into the old Florida Rep. How long can we continue to make this tenuous connection? Until one or the other show closes, of course.
Pondering Prices
The Producer's Perspective offers some observations on ticket prices worth noting.
West Side Story Story
The National Tour of West Side Story is on the road, and Playbill tells us about it; it will be playing at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in February.
Meanwhile...
... in West Palm Beach, The Shiny Sheet was there when Palm Beach Dramaworks was handed the keys to The Cuillo Center.
