The Scene for January 7, 2011

It's still a little odd writing "2011" at the end of every date.  Weren't we supposed to have rocket cars and personal robot servants by now?  The good news is that live theatre hasn't been replaced with mechanized actrons... yet.

So here's the first The Scene for the new year..and there is a lot going on:


opening...

Clybourne Park opens at the Caldwell Theatre, and plays through February 6, 2011.

Boca Raton Theatre Guild takes itself to a new level as it opens Neil Simon's Broadway Bound, with Genie Croft directing Carbonell award winning actress Jessica K. Peterson.

Sharon Gless stars as A Round-Heeled Woman at GableStage, through January 30.

Frannie Sheridan opens her one woman show, Confessions of a Jewish Shiksa...Dancing on Hitlers' Grave, at Area Stage. It plays through February 16.


you still haven't missed...

Goldie, Max, and Milk plays at Florida Stage through January 16.

MAME plays at the Stage Door Theatre through February 6, 2011.

The Palm Beach Dramaworks production of Freud's Last Session plays through February 6 has been extended through February 13, 2011.

The Stage Door Theatre presents A Taffetta Wedding  through January 16.

Laffing Matterz  serves up the laughs at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, through May 14, 2010.


passing through...

Cooking with the Calamari Sisters plays at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts through Sunday January 9.

Kravis Center presents Disney's Beauty and the Beast through January 9. 

The critics are raving about Rock of Ages, at the Broward Center through January 9.

Roxy Theatre Group presents -title of show- this weekend only.  It's a fundraiser for the company, featuring the company's teachers.
