The Scene for October 5, 2012

It's hard to believe that it's already October; it seems like summer barely got started.  Other than the endless days of miserable heat and humidity, it's like summer never happened

But that means - IT'S OCTOBER!! THE 2012-2013 SEASON OFFICIALLY IS HERE! And it's going to be another great year of theatre for South Florida.

The Carbonell Awards ceremony has been announced for April 1, 2013 - no joke!  And sadly, it's not a joke that the Carbonell's executive director, Amy London, is leaving South Florida.  You might have heard that she recently became engaged to John Fionte.  He's based in Tennessee, and right after Christmas, she'll be based out of Tennessee, too.  Best wishes!  But who's going to direct the ceremony this year?  The world waits with bated breath.

Zoetic Stage opens its production of I Am My Own Wife at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.

Stage Door Theatre opens its production of The Immigrant at the Byron Carlisle Theatre in Miami Beach. Through October 28.

Lake Worth Playhouse, South Florida's premiere community theatre, opens The King and I. Through October 21.

Delray Beach Playhouse, also a prominent community theatre, opens A Talent For Murder. Through October 21.
